Welcome to the Paerl Lab Homepage – hub for marine microbiology @ NC State within the MEAS Department. The laboratory is located at Jordan Hall on the NC State Campus and focuses upon improving our current understanding of marine/aquatic microbial ecology, physiology, and biogeography.
Problems and questions related to nutrient cycling (production, assimilation, and transformation) are of particular interest – especially those related to nitrogen and vitamin cycling. Traditional (microscopy, cell culturing) and modern molecular techniques (qPCR, PCR, nucleic acid sequencing, isotopic tracing) are employed to test hypotheses in laboratory and field-based experiments.
Positions at the Masters or Doctorate degree levels are currently available. Please contact email@example.com and see for more information.
